Richard W. Hausler, President

Mr. Hausler is the President and co-owner of KETTLER the McLean, Virginia-based full service development firm specializing in transit-oriented development, multifamily housing, commercial, and mixed use planned communities, and has been with the firm since 1986.

Among current KKETTLER developments are transit-oriented mixed use projects in the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland including George Washington University, Pentagon City, Reston, Rockville, Silver Spring, Alexandria, Lorton, and Potomac Harbor. The affiliated KETTLER Management Corp. manages 10,000 apartments in Greater Washington, with another 6000 in the current pipeline.

Before joining KETTLER, Mr. Hausler was a partner in the law firm of Hazel, Beckhorn and Hanes, a leading Virginia real estate and land use law firm, and he previously served as Assistant U.S. Attorney with the Department of Justice in Washington.

A Northern Virginia native, Hausler graduated from Harvard College, served as a teaching fellow in Government at Harvard, and received his law degree from Harvard Law School. Hausler is a founder of the Lorton Arts Foundation, served on Fairfax County’s committee on workforce housing, and was an organizer of the Virginia Foundation for Housing Preservation. Mr. Hausler serves on the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Revenue Estimates. He has been a panelist on Transit Oriented Development, Land Use Planning, Community Revitalization, Affordable Housing, and Town Centers in Master Planned Communities; and assisted in planning repatriation housing in Russia. Hausler is married to Lyndon Skelly-Hausler and is the father of four.
