Prince William Symphony Orchestra Opens 2005-2006 Season
Program Celebrates 10th Anniversary with musical conductor, Carl Long

The Prince William Symphony Orchestra (PWSO) announced today its 2005-2006 schedules. In honor of the 10th Anniversary between the PWSO and its renowned musical conductor, Carl Long, the program will include many of Mr. Long’s favorites, including Beethoven, Wagner, Debussy and Schubert.
The annual Pops series will feature such classics as Harry Potter, My Fair Lady, E.T. and Disney’s Aladdin. The highlight of this year’s season will be on May 14, 2006 when the Annual gala will feature ‘A Night in Old Vienna.’
“Our 2005-2006 is designed to please our loyal regulars as well as to attract a new group of music lovers,” stated musical conductor, Carl Long. “I am honored to have such a great relationship with such a professional group of musicians.”
Mr. Long trained with XXXX and came to the Prince William Symphony Orchestra in 1996. He has taken the orchestra to a level recognized by the Washington Post as ‘breathtaking.’ In addition, Mr. Long has instituted a Young Artist Competition to encourage education and appreciation for classical music. There is a grand prize of $1,000 associated with the competition. The deadline for application is March 9, 2006.

- March 4 European Sampler
- April 8 Pops Spectacular
- May 13 GALA—A Night in Old Vienna
A pre-season event had the orchestra playing for the international audience at the President’s Cup, held in September at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. Famed golfer, Jack Nicholas, team captain for the United States, stated, “Thanks a million for the great music; you guys sounded fantastic.”
